In a world where everything is online, application development – both mobile and desktop – is what I would consider to be one of the most important and most rewarding fields in computer science. In today’s society the majority of people who want information will first go to the internet. Instead of reading brochures, people would much rather learn through a website. Therefore if an organization wants to gain recognition, an engaging and attractive form of software application is of the utmost importance to their endeavor.
Application design is not just about how the app looks, however. Having a solution that has decent functionality is just as important, which is something I am learning a lot about while interning at NextLOGiK. Internet users become frustrated much more quickly than they used to, so it is vital that a website or mobile app work exactly the way it’s supposed to, and without befuddling the user so much that it becomes unusable. Therefore the software behind an application should be given as much attention as its appearance, and this is something that those at NextLOGiK make sure to do. Numerous hours are spent on testing just to ensure that everything is operating correctly and to see that everything is logical. If even a software developer is having difficulty navigating a website, clearly it would be too complicated for any other users. NextLOGiK is always looking for new ways to improve their applications’ efficiency as well, since quality is one of the many ways we like to set ourselves apart.
Understanding the needs of consumers in today’s technological world is an advantage that we utilize heavily in our efforts, and is an approach that all application developers should strive for in order to be successful.
